A PPV is the probability that a person with a Cancer Signal Detected test result has cancer. In a recent study the PPV was 43.1% for study participants with a Cancer Signal Detected result who were diagnosed with cancer. The false positive rate was 0.5% for participants without cancer.

Your sample will then be sent off to the lab for analysis, with results available within three to four weeks. Once your results are ready, your provider will review them with you and guide you on any next steps, if needed. What to Expect From Undergoing a Multi-Cancer Screening

Here’s what you can expect during your multi-cancer screening:

The test will begin with a simple blood draw, similar to a routine blood test.
Once your blood is drawn, it is sent to a specialized lab where advanced technology analyzes the DNA found in the sample. This process focuses on identifying genetic markers associated with multiple types of cancers.
You’ll receive your results in about three to four weeks. If any potential signs of cancer are detected, you may be referred for further testing or follow-up care. If no signs are found, the results offer peace of mind that your test came back clear, but routine cancer screenings (i.e., colonoscopies, mammograms, etc.) are still strongly recommended.
